ADVOCACY

Lorca Peress has served on numerous panels, including the 2023 Yale Venture Summit, and various panels for Theatre Resources Unlimited on producing, gender parity and Covid-19 Recovery challenges. NO-PASSPORT (NOPE) Conference on “Dreaming the Americas/ Diversity and Difference in Performance” at the Martin E. Siegel CUNY Graduate Center; NYU Tisch “Performing Across Cultures and Histories,” Women Directors panel for The Fire This Time Festival and League of Professional Theatre Women, She is a past panelist and grant funding judge for the Ohio State Arts Council for film/ theatre projects.

She is heading up a Pay Equity Study for the League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW) where she is also a past president. This not-for-profit advocacy and networking organization with close-to 500 national and international members collectively reaches tens of thousands through public works. She is on their advisory council and Development Committee. She co-edited the LPTW “Women In Theatre – International” (WIT) magazine edition; the first edition of its kind to honor and support international theatre women.

 

Peress was a panelist on the Create1World global event on Climate Change through UNESCO and the New Zealand University in Wellington. She produced two international Climate Change Events through MultiStages curated by Climate Theatre Action.

She was invited to be a founding member of the Creative Network of NYC Puerto Rican artists for the NY Regional Office of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA). Through the musical, "Temple of the Souls," she has been involved with members of the Taino nation. She and her grandmother, playwright Anita Velez-Mitchell, were honored at a Taino areyto at the Museu del Barrio, and have both received Taino awards  for their artistic involvements in support of the Taino people.

In addition to being MultiStages Aristic Director, Lorca Peress has served on Advisory Boards of two not-for-profit theatre companies in New York City.
